The County of Cornouaille whose capital is Quimper extends from East to West, from Quimperlé to La Pointe du Raz and from North to South from the Country of Fouesnant to the Basin of Châteaulin. Genuine "Maritime Ground" made up of more than 330km of littoral coasts, this Country inspired many painters for the beauty of its landscapes and the quality of light, such as Gauguin, celebrated this summer with two exhibitions called "The year of Gauguin in Cornouaille". There are also atypical landscapes (La Point du Raz, la Pointe de la Torche for the amateurs of surfing, the valley Odet, the valley of the Aulne around Châteaulin),old cities (Quimper, Concarneau, Quimperlé, Pont-Croix, Pont-l'Abbé, Locronan), seaside resorts (Fouesnant, Bénodet, Forêt Fouesnant , Ile Tudy, Sainte Marine, Concarneau, Névez...), islands (Sein, Glénan), the harbour cities (Douarnenez, Audierne, Guilvinec, Loctudy, Saint Guénolé, Penmarc' h), and rural cities (Châteaulin, Rosporden, Briec...). |

Seven communes (Ergué Gabéric, Guengat, Plogonnec, Plomelin, Plonéis, Pluguffan and Quimper) have just been gathered under the authority of Quimper Community and work for the economic development and tourist promotion of their patrimonial and cultural richness. In the heart of Cornouaille, ground of traditions, authencity and modernity, they offer a balance between city and countryside. Based on a powerful industry and agriculture they aim at widening a harmonious development of the territory. They propose throughout the year, sporting programs, cultural activities and animations. Quimper Community and the office of Tourism work in close cooperation with the qualified professionnals. During the whole year, they all contribute to make tourist activity one of the most powerful sectors of our economy. |

The capital of Cornouaille, Quimper, combines economic dynamism and art of living. Town of art and history, the prefecture of the Finistère, crossed by the river of Odet, has becomeover the years the axis of its development. Upstream, inside the old city, the cathedrale dominates the medieval houses with wood sides.
